Stop + Frisk
Racial Profiling or Deterrent to Crime?

Thursday, October 11, 2012
12:00PM - 2:30PM

Pace University
Multipurpose Room
1 Pace Plaza
New York, NY 10038

Under the current New York City administration, men and women regardless of age are being stopped, questioned, and searched at alarming rates. In 2011 for example, 85% of the 700,000 stops involved Blacks and Latino/as. The rationale, according to New York City's mayor, police commissioner, select public policy analysts, and some leaders in Black and Latino/a communities, is that these practices make communities safer and lower the crime rate. Whether you agree, disagree, or are somewhere in the middle, join in on what will prove to be a provocative discussion.
